Ever since the release of Sinners, I have been captivated by the outfits worn by several characters in the movie. It's no surprise, considering that the talented Ruth E. Carter, an Academy Award-winning costume designer, was behind the wardrobe for Sinners. If Carter's name doesn't sound familiar, you're likely familiar with her remarkable work in both Black Panther films, Dolemite Is My Name (2019), and B*A*P*S (1997), among others. When Ruth E. Carter is on set, you can be sure the wardrobe is going to eat!

The story takes place in 1932, where Mary, Pearline, and Annie wear dresses at the juke joint that feature slip-like silhouettes with elements such as drop waists and scoop necklines. These design details feel timeless to me and have reignited my passion for fashion from that era.
